Case Study: TaxAssist

‘OMG Search are always on hand to offer valuable advice, or put our minds at rest about worrying rumours! I'd definitely recommend them.’

James Mattam, Marketing Manager, TaxAssist

Background

TaxAssist is the UK’s leading provider of accountancy support for small businesses and self-employed traders. We took over their SEM campaign late in 2007.

Strategy

TaxAssist used OMG Search for a comprehensive SEM package, including both SEO and PPC. The company had made significant investments in PPC advertising since 2004, but the service it had received from previous search agencies fell short of the mark. Our comprehensive reporting made a big difference, providing a clear picture of which pages are working and what visitors respond to, with the benefits increasing over time.

As online competition in the accountancy sector grows, hands-on service makes a real difference for TaxAssist. Because they bid on around 1200 keywords in order to compete locally, they really appreciated having a dedicated OMG Search team member looking after their PPC bids. Where appropriate, we also suggested alternative keywords that could deliver incremental traffic.

Results

We took over the campaign just in time for TaxAssist’s busiest month in the lead-up to the 31 January tax-return deadline. January 2008 was the company’s best ever in terms of enquiries, with the number-one PPC position for ‘tax returns’ maintained and steady progress in natural listings too.
